Job Description

POST: ONE (1)

GRADE: NCCS 8

VACANCY NO: NCCS/12/2026

TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE

a. Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities entail: -

  1. Driving the Council’s staff as authorized;
  2. Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
  3. Keeping up to date work tickets for vehicles;
  4. Recognizing and reporting mechanical defaults of the vehicles;
  5. Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
  6. Maintaining cleanliness of vehicles;
  7. Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
  8. Monitoring and reporting expiry of insurance policies for motor vehicles;
  9. Preparing and submitting reports on transport when need arises;
  10. Ensuring security and safety of passengers and vehicle on and off the road;

    xi.          Ensuring proper mechanical working condition of the vehicle;

  1. Ensuring adherence to or observations of traffic laws;

 xiii.          Ensuring reporting of any incidents to police and/or the office immediately they occur; and

xiv.          undertake any other functions as may be lawfully assigned.

 

Job Specification

b. Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have: -

                 i.          Must have served for a minimum period of nine (9) years, three (3) of which must be at the grade of driver I or in a comparable position;

             ii.          At least a mean grade D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

              iii.          A valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;

             iv.          A defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA) or its equivalent qualification from any other recognized institution;

              v.          First Aid certificate course;

             vi.          A valid Certificate of good conduct;

            vii.          Occupational trade test grade I for drivers;

          viii.          Proficiency in computer applications;

             ix.          Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at the Kenya Authority of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution; and

               x.          Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

  • Kenya Revenue Authority - (Valid Tax compliance certificate).

  • Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission - (Self-Declaration form)
  • Credit Reference Bureau - (Certificate of clearance or credit report)
