Job Description

 POSITION: PRINCIPAL, INTERNAL AUDITOR

POST: ONE (1)

GRADE: NCCS 5

VACANCY NO: NCCS/3/2026 

TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE

a.    Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities entail: -

  1. Developing, reviewing and ensuring implementation of audit strategies, policies and procedures;
  2. Preparing risk based annual audit plans for approval by the audit and risk management committee;
  3. Evaluating progress and effectiveness of action taken to implement audit recommendations received from both internal and external audits;
  4. Executing special audits/investigations and preparing audit reports;
  5. Ensuring preparation of the unit’s annual budget, control and monitor implementation; and
  6.  undertake any other functions as may be lawfully assigned.

b.    Requirements for appointment

 

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

       i.          At least nine (9) years’ work experience three (3) of which must be at the grade of Senior Internal Auditor or in a comparable position;

      ii.          Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Finance, Accounting, Commerce (Accounting option), Commerce (Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option) or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

    iii.          Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) or Part III of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or Part III of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

   iv.           Certificate in Certified Information System Auditors (C.I.S.A) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from a recognized institution;

     v.          Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or Member of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA);

   vi.           Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and

  vii.          Computer proficiency skills.

  • Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission - (Self-Declaration form)
  • Credit Reference Bureau - (Certificate of clearance or credit report)
