Job Description

  POSITION: SENIOR INFORMATION COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

 POST: ONE (1)

GRADE: NCCS 6

VACANCY NO: NCCS/8/2026

TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE

a. Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities entail:-

     i.          Writing and testing computer programs;

    ii.          Verifying, enhancing and testing computer programs;

  iii.          Providing user support;

 iv.          Monitoring performance and Implementing preventive maintenance of servers and other ICT equipment;

   v.          Maintain an up-to-date ICT inventory and asset management register;

b.      Requirements for appointment

 

For appointment to this grade an officer must have: -

       i.          Cumulative service period of six (6) years’ three (3) of which must be at the grade of ICT Officer or in a comparable position;

      ii.          Degree in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;

    iii.          Relevant professional certification. in any of the following fields:

 

   iv.          Systems AND Server Administration technical certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, COMPTIA;

OR

     v.          Programming, Database and System Deployment technical certifications such as MCSD, SQL, AWS, Oracle;

OR

   vi.          Networking technical certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, HCNA, HCNP

OR

  vii.          Security and data protection technical certifications such as CISM, CISA, ethical hacking

OR

 viii.          Project management technical certifications such as PMP; PRINCE2;

  1. Experience with ICT project management and implementation;
  2. Proven experience in ICT support and administration, with a strong technical background in IT systems and networks;
  3. Familiarity with ICT procurement processes and vendor management;
  4. Membership in ISACA or a relevant professional body;
  5. Solid understanding of network protocols, security principles and best practices; and
  6. Knowledge of cyber security threats and counter measures with experience implementing security controls and measures.

  • Kenya Revenue Authority - (Valid Tax compliance certificate).
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigations - (Certificate of good conduct)

  • Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission - (Self-Declaration form)
  • Credit Reference Bureau - (Certificate of clearance or credit report)
